The FLU. In MAY! I'm pretty much over this friggin'THREE-WEEK flu, and Ed is still coughing. Let me tell you it's a sneaky virus. It presents itself first as a throat tickle, then you think you have a head cold or sinus infection for a couple of days, and the coughing starts. THEN you may or may not get intestinal issues (I did. Ed did not). You may or may not get a slight fever (we both did). The fatigue sneaks up on you, and while you are still able to function, you get tired quickly and need to rest often. It just drags on and on, changing symptoms daily. Just when you think you're getting better WHAM!...a fun new symptom shows up. How did I find out it was the FLU? My sister has nearly the exact same symptoms, in the same order of progression, and went to the doctor who told her it was a Flu virus that's going around.

On top of having the flu poor Ed has been dealing with an abscessed tooth. He went to the dentist yesterday morning who did nothing but POKE at it and make the pain worse. He prescribed Ed some amoxicillin and pain killer, which does not help much, and told him to come back in a MONTH for a root canal. Ed was in AGONY most of yesterday. At 2 AM, out of agonizing desperation, Ed took matters into his own hands and popped the abscess with the tip of a sharp knife! I won't tell you the gory details, but Ed said it did provide some relief. He then took a double-dose of amoxicillin. He's a caveman, I tell you.

So, whatever this illness is that I've acquired it's been kicking my butt for over a week now. Ed's got it too, although we have slightly different symptoms. We both have congestion, sore throat, headache and lethargy. He's got muscle aches these past few days, and I've had none, but I do have intestinal issues that he does not. Make up your mind, virus. I've had enough of it and want my energy and motivation back. Ed has continued to go to work every day, and I have the luxury of staying home, but the housework piling up is starting to give me guilt. It's 2:35 PM and all I've accomplished today is to feed the dogs, sit in my chair and look at Internety things on my iPhone. I got a new 6 Plus a few weeks ago, BTW, and I love it.

In this past week, even with the illness, I've managed to get all my ring orders done and shipped, created a new simple website for our thrift business (www.dixiepickersusa.com) and do a minimum of laundry and dishes. The dogs need baths and the house needs a good purging and cleaning. I need my energy back.

I just got a text from my sister in CA that she's got the same symptoms and is at the doctor, and he told her it's the flu. Holy Moly this crud is really getting around.

Ed just called. He got into a minor fender-bender yesterday in his work truck, that was NOT his fault, and even the cop who wrote up the report said it was not his fault, but Progressive Ins. just called Ed and is trying to say that it WAS his fault. Bastard crooks! So, Ed is not only not feeling well and working outside in the heat, but now he's understandably upset and annoyed by this BS. If I were feeling better I'd make him a nice dinner to come home to. Sorry, Ed. I will make it up to you soon.

I've been reading for years now how it's no longer advisable to use two spaces after a period, how it dates you (I'm middleaged -- so WHAT?), and how easy it is to make the change to one space. I cry bullshit! I was a medical transcriptionist for years up until recently, and whenever we had an account that wanted only one space after a period I would cringe. I simply could not do it once I was in the flow/zone of speed typing. I still cannot do it and find myself going back over my text and deleting extra spaces, because I'm kind of OCD about my typing. I think I need to let it go. What I type is what you get. I'll have to blame my training at Katherine Gibbs school all those decades ago. Sorry, grammar Nazis, I am still leaving two spaces after a colon. So THERE!
